That Was the Most Fun

solidify _PAExpo

I can't believe the five weeks are over. Kerry, Eric, and I had so much fun, and thoroughly enjoyed getting to be a part of this wonderful project Steuart created. The horses were incredible. They proved what great, trainable, intelligent, willing and kind creatures are out there waiting for their new career. I don't know how I was lucky enough to get to be a part of this, but I want to thank everyone who supported and followed me along the way. I was honored to get to be a part of something that The Kerry Blackmer and Mister Eric Deirks were chosen for.

We could not have asked for anything better at the Expo in PA, except maybe more time on Saturday to show off these wonderful horses. It was truly a thrilling experience to ride the horses fresh out of their stalls in front of almost 3000 people and show how fantastic and trainable they are.

Our Excellent Adventure

fieldtripKerry and I went on a field trip to Sharon White's Last Frontier Farm in West Virginia today. We thought it would be a good outing in preparation for the Expo. The horses were pretty amazing. No whinnying, no naughty behavior's of any sort, and they even stood for our photo opportunity's. Tempyst hacked around like a pro, trotting and cantering with amazing balance up and down the hills. To think he was the horse that danced around the expo to where he is today is pretty cool. Solidify was bright without being silly at all trotting and cantering around the field. I spent some time just walking and stretching him and then when I put him to work he was sneezing and  relaxing like he does at home. High Level was probably the most unfazed ironically of the three. He could have cared less about anything. He is such a brave confident guy. To think he has done nothing since he raced but graze in a field...He went right in the indoor, didn't care when Kerry and Tempyst left us in there alone, didn't seem to care about anything we hacked by, and stood at the trailer like a gentleman.

High Level Jumps for the Second Time

February 20, 2012

I think Solidify must have spent all night telling High Level about jumping! High Level was a super star. He jumped right over the first cross rail like he had jumped many times before. We wiggled a little here and there but I couldn't have been happier with him. The first jump on the video is the first jump I jumped with him today...!

Solidify jumps and High Level takes it all in stride...

February 19, 2012

I knew it would be busy at the barn today...and as much as I would rather ride when it's quiet, I thought it would be good practice to ride the in a little bit of atmosphere. I rode High Level while the other trainer at the barn had a lesson with 4 people riding around and jumping...I can't tell you how good he was. He took it all in stride. I walked for a long time, just letting him get comfortable. He let me work around the jumping and chaos and really showed off what a great disposition he has. It was only last Thursday he got his shoe on... I was so proud of him.

Two Good Boys! :)

So...Friday they both had off, and Thursday both boys went out for hacks... Neither of them are very spooky, and they both have great walks...Solidify had a chiropractic appointment with Dr. Stephen Dill on Thursday afternoon to see if he could help the stiffness in the left hind. He wanted him to have Friday off, and then a light ride Saturday to see what he felt like...Well...Solidify LOVED what the doc did for him. He felt fantastic today. Much less restricted in the left hind, and much freer in his back. I will try and tape him tomorrow! High Level was good today too. He is really quite neat. I am focusing primarily on getting him straighter. It is better with each ride. He is learning how to go more in front of my leg, and that is going to help the straightness. I can't believe how much progress he has made in a week!
