The Retired Racehorse Training Project at the Virginia Equine Extravaganza

From Flight to Fun - How three day event riders turn Thoroughbred racehorses into masters of the triathlon of horse sports. Steuart Pittman and his students will demonstrate the riding skills and the training methods that turn retired racehorses into valuable sport horses. Whether you ride horses off the track, compete in eventing, or wouldn't be caught dead doing either, this session will open your eyes to aspects of horsemanship that everyone should know.

The Retired Racehorse Training Project at the Maryland Horse World Expo

The Maryland Horse World Expo was a huge success for the Retired Racehorse Training Project. The only other exhibitor who came close to us in numbers at sessions was John Lyons. Thanks to those of you who drove from as far away as South Carolina and spent the full four days just to catch all of our sessions.

The Retired Racehorse Training Project at the Pennsylvania Horse World Expo

Topics covered at the Pennsylvania Expo:

Starting the Retired Racehorse in a New Career

While working with students on their recent track acquisitions, Steuart will ride a horse which recently left the track and demonstrate how effective riding and consistent aids allow these horses to learn their new jobs easily and quickly. Expect gorgeous horses with ecstatic new owners and maybe a bit of that good old Thoroughbred flight instinct coming through. Smiles all around.

The Retired Racehorse Training Symposium - October, 2009

A Thank You from Clinician, Steuart Pittman

Fascination and love for the Thoroughbred horse seems to be alive and well in America! Who would have thought that 350 people cared enough about this subject to show up so eager to learn something new? I hope they came away with a renewed sense of admiration and respect for these horses, and a renewed commitment to improving their own riding and training skills.

The RRTP is a charitable organization  under Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations are tax deductible pursuant to applicable laws. Our mission is to facilitate the placement  of retired Thoroughbred racehorses in second careers by educating the public about the history, distinctive characteristics, versatility of use, and appropriate care and training of the iconic American Thoroughbred.

Funding is needed to maintain and expand our internet services, conduct our Throughbreds For All events, produce educational videos, and finance our presentations at horse expos and other high visibility public events. We do not use donated funds to care for individual horses. That work is done by the farms and organizations that we serve.
